Curious as to other takes here. I have always worked hard to help friends find jobs - it's suuuuper important to me. Having been unemployed and so stressed, I know how much it means to get an in. If I have friends who are really looking I keep my eyes peeled and make a point of doing intros where I can. If I'm at a company that is hiring and a friend is interested, I do what I can to find out more, make intros where appropriate etc. I have noticed though that others do not approach it the same way and after years of not understanding why I'm opening it up to the group - if a friend doesn't make an effort to help you career wise at all it probably means they think you are a risky proposition right? I just dont get people who dont do this so I'm assuming it can only be because they worry you might make them look bad. But am i missing something?
