They destroyed their economy by shutting down when cases were low, and didn't put any infrastructure in place. No assistance for hospitals, it's still very hard to get testing, etc. Now they are overwhelmed and can't deal with the cases and also had to shut down everything again. I think Cuomo made mistakes but at least when we were shut down we got testing up and running and some plans in place. I am from there originally and watching it from here has been surreal.
you don’t know what you’re talking about. NY is half the population of CA and less than one quarter of one percent of its land mass. And NY cases and deaths from Covid exceed California’s by tens of thousands.
Nothing you said disputes what I said...
If you think nothing I said contradicts what you said, then somehow you lost your reading comp skills between the time you posted the OP about CA bungling its covid response and the time you read my reply.
@Anonymous Sooo you can't explain it then? I get that the numbers are different and needs are different, but CAs response has been poor regardless of that.
You can get a test quite easily in CA. The issue is people not taking things seriously and gathering in groups. The Governor can only do so much. He can’t force people not to be idiots.
I’m in the Bay Area and the testing situation hasn’t been too bad. Every time I or someone in my family has had a test (a few times now, including a week ago) we have gotten results back in less than 24 hours. Granted, cases have boomed here in the past few days so maybe it’s harder now. We were doing fine until Thanksgiving but people got burned out from lockdown and yes there was an economic toll on businesses.
op. My family and friends in Southern CA have said it's difficult to get tested there, and I was there in September and found that to be the case. I have heard SF has generally been doing a good job though.
In that case you realize the shortcomings with your overbroad OP.
