I live in Cobble Hill. The playgrounds are filled with trash, there are homeless sleeping on benches there. Prospect park has feces everywhere, trash everywhere. It's becoming unlivable. I never thought I would say this - but I think it's time to leave

See ya!
NYC was always filled with garbage. You just had better things to do than notice it. My European relatives always marvel at the garbage when they come here in summer. And there's apparently a smell, which as a NYCer I don't even notice
The city is heading in a very concerning direction: homeless everywhere, increase in crime, it’s not only in Brooklyn
Agree.
I was prepared to disagree, but then last night I took a walk on the main drag near Prospect Park, and the air smelled like rotting garbage and, I don't know, carcasses or something. It was unbearable, even through my mask. And it wasn't localized -- it lasted for around 5 or 6 blocks.
There has been a tread on PSP about the state of the park. Apparently the area around nature Playground has not been cleaned for months. The park has always been quite trashed, esp around BBQ areas, but the park employees clean every morning. I assume they have already laid off people and it's showing.
My area near a park on the UWS is also more trash-filled. Maybe there is less cleaning now, but I also think it's because people are using the park and other outside areas for get-togethers they can't have inside. (Whether they should be having them at all, even outside, is another question). People are antsy and bored, they are getting together to drink and hang out in the park, and sadly, they are not cleaning up after themselves.
