Our 5 year old had her birthday. We did a zoom birthday party and got her 5 presents: not fancy presents, but a costume, a super hero cape, pin wheels, a dress, a birthday cake, cupcakes for her school party. At one end this feels like a lot, the all-in cost of this was probably $300+ (half of which was the zoom party). This is more than I ever got growing up (I grew up getting oranges as stocking stuffers to bulk up those stockings). I think it was too much, in dollars and quantity . On the other end, I think my kid was disappointed in not getting more (although the costume, cape and pin wheels are all stuff she asked for before). Maybe in the future reduce the quantity and just do one nicer present?
I don't want to raise a spoiled kid. I thought this was not only right amount of stuff, but a good amount of stuff. Is my kid already spoiled? How does your child respond to a present?
