to add, as an adult I have often marveled at their business model. It's essentially a tent in a parking lot off the highway, right? Yet it was the hottest ticket in town on those few epic days. Isn't it/wasn't it only open like one day a week for a few hours? Can't even imagine the margins on that place... if I recall there was a cover charge!!
I used to take the train home on Sundays and would have to deal with the drunk idiots from boardy barn. they were converted in yellow stickers. I think you got a sticker per beer you drank?? One guy was epic. He had to stand near the door, turned to face the corner, vomited, then turned back around to continue talking with his friends. It was so foul but I respected it in a weird way.
I was the poster that mentioned BB. Although I was attempting humor upon re reading I realize I sounded obnoxious. I’m dealing with insomnia from stress of just everything. But that place - omg.
@Anonymous ha. we went further out East when I was still under 10. Is that club still there? Or the house with the prop plane in the courtyard visible as you drove past on Dune road?
@Anonymous one of my best childhood memories is a day during late summer- my family playing on the beach all day. In my memory there was no other people on the beach. It’s weird. Our beach further was a popular beach now in sagaponack . I cringe a bit seeing posts on social media of what it is like now. Not my cup of tea.
boardy barn. red cups, underage day drinking. good times

Respected how? That you were looking at an addict in the making?
OMG. That's horrible. I can't imagine taking a train after boardy barn!

For me it was the La Ronde reference. Anyone else‘s family members back then?

@Anonymous I do remember the beach being so empty back then - maybe 2 families only within eyesight
No idea but I remember it. I remember the beach being so beautiful there too. Much wider than further East.
