Many of you weighed in on whether to get a new babysitter when the one we had suddenly went MIA due to a family emergency. Just wanted to update that we did find new, fantastic options. Thank you all for all the support. I appreciated it so much.
And now for the follow up: we had one short term option who turned out to be fantastic. Unfortunately, we ideally need help until early evening and she cannot stay that long. DC absolutely adore her, and we like her a lot, too. We tried out another option -- also likable, but not as much as the first -- but she can stay as long as needed. It works out to be about a 2 hour difference on most days, which is huge.
I don't think I can swing 2 hours less coverage than needed, but I also want DC to feel a good, strong connection to their babysitter. The difference is that the first one was very kind and loving and felt like a real partner to us. The second one is also kind but definitely more arm's length in her interactions with everyone. Totally professional, just not like leaving dc with a trusted family member which is what the first one felt like - that kind of a difference.
Sorry for the long post. Just trying to give a flavor for what I'm talking about The question is whether I should really consider getting 2 hours less coverage than we need (eek!), stay with the second one, or keep looking? I actually think all the changes are not so easy for dc, so trying to bear that in mind as well. Any thoughts?
