No. My parents may drive to visit us but not until we’ve been out of school for a week+ and have been tested, so likely after New Years for the weekend.
Op: wonder how many people are traveling. Dds friends are going overseas and Other states for holidays. Makes it hard for dd to know her friends are traveling and we’re staying home but I’m really afraid still.
No. Health officials are pretty clear about this. I know my SIL is traveling, but I don't have any other friends in my area I know with travel plans. People are taking it pretty seriously where I live.
Op: maybe just nyc private school world ?
@Anonymous By the state of the country, doesn't seem to be.
I understand the desire to escape a small City apartment
me, DH, kid at home, absolutely not. College age kid is coming home for three weeks and will follow testing/quarantine rules, really hope he tests negative on day 4 so we can hang out for more than a couple of days!
I'm torn. We normally visit DH's parents in Florida for the week, but they've decided to stay put in Maine where they're safer. We could go ourselves and stay in their condo; it would be free, and warm, and we wouldn't really have to interact with anyone, save for masked trips to the grocery store. But we'd have to travel there and back. Debating how dangerous that is, and if we went, whether it would be better to drive or fly (driving would enable us to bring a lot more stuff, which would be nice, but we'd have to stay somewhere on the road).
Why not Maine with the grandparents or is the idea to keep them safe by not visiting?
@Anonymous 1. Keep them safe, 2. If I'm going to go anywhere, it'll be somewhere warmer than here. The appeal of our Christmas trip for me isn't my in-laws, if you KWIM.
Yes, but leaving this thursday, then quarantining away from everyone until we get a negative test. Also getting tested before we go and will not leave the house after that test.
we are meant to fly to europe to visit my parents and have baked in a long quarantine in an airbnb when we get there. haven't seen them for a year and dad has had surgery in that time - but still super anxious about flying with the kids so may postpone. stupid covid.
If you do, do you bake in a quarantine on way back??
We visited with everyone on Thanksgiving with the assumption numbers will be going up. We will be staying home for Christmas/New Year
Health officials warned folks not to visit with others during Thanksgiving because it would cause numbers to go up... so you visited with others with assumption numbers would go up? And did not consider your role in this?
