Wondering who these may work for. My DS takes adderall and feels it gives him anxiety.
I am SO fascinated by descriptions of what guanfacine does, but it works for a lower % of people than stimulants. And it can make you woozy.
Some stimulants are a little gentler on the delivery than others, XR formulas or vyvanse, but all of them really benefit from exercise and meditation (fat chance!).
Stimulants plus an snri or ssri is a common strategy for comprbid depression or anxiety. Also for minor depressiveness caused by ongoing adhd snafus, FML-itis.
OP: thank you. I suppose I need to discuss this more with my son's Psych. Seems to want to stick to the basics (adderall or rittalin). I didn't even know there were non-stimulant options till a friend told me
Did not work for my DC
@annv11 i think it started this post months ago. since then tried straterra and haven't noticed any benefits.
We are trying Prozac bc he has an anxiety profile. Just started.
OP: I was considering this route to as he also has anxiety and it's hard to tell what is driving what. Good luck
Try the youbemom SN Board. Our dc takes Ritalin and as long as we give it at the same time each day it’s manageable. Good luck
