I came back from running some errands in the afternoon and felt a quick, sharp pain (although mild) to the right side, mid way between my underarm and waist, but closer to the back. As I touched the area, it felt sensitive to the touch, again not extremely painful, but it felt as if the skin in that area was sensitive and "achey" as well, did not feel like your usual muscle strain. I took an Advil after dinner and it got better. This morning I noticed it is still there. Because of the location I am not sure what is causing it (have not done any strenuous activity recently) could it just be a muscular/nerve pain?
It may sound as a silly questions to many, so I apologize, but I tend to worry a bit. Have never had any kidney or other issues, everything else seems fine and was not sure I should contact my PCP for this.
Thanks for any feedback.
ER mom. Definitely encouraging that it’s tender to the touch, as that makes it more likely to be something superficial and musculoskeletal, and less likely to be something internal. Another thought I had was beginning of shingles. Keep an eye on the skin. hope you feel better soon!
op- Thank you ER mom, for taking the time to reply.
I really hope it is not shingles... that sounds terrifying. I am 52, so I know it becomes more common, but pray it is just something musculoskeletal and that it will go away. Thank you again.
@Anonymous we are all in the same boat, apprehensive of going to the doctor due to covid and in the meantime we worry ourselves needlessly with imagined diagnoses. I really hope the situation gets better soon!
