I am trying to figure out how long a gas leak will take to repair in my building on the Upper East Side, The Croydon on 86th and Madison. Has anyone else been through this? What are typical rent abatements? Thank you.
I've been in this situation. Most of my building was up within a month, but my unit took over 6 months. The reason was permitting and scheduling inspections was held up. The actual fix took ~1 hour. You are not entitled to a rent abatement for cooking gas, according to the research I have done.
I was on the UWS in a crappy, family-run building when this happened. Months and months passed. I finally left after 11 months.

Clearly, the building won't say anything; they are handing out burners and hot plates which seems - ominous - I know Second World Problems....
