I'm on the UWS. In March/April, I knew, or knew of, a bunch of people who had Covid. I know the numbers are going up again but I haven't heard of a single person in my extended circle who has caught the virus. For obvious reasons, my circle consists of a bunch of MC families with kids. I wonder whether it's mostly retail or other non-office workers? young people out at bars? homeless people in shelters? Do you know anyone who has been diagnosed with C-19 recently?
Several friends are doctors and were just diagnosed.
Yikes. Have to assume MDs are in top-notch PPE, so that's very depressing for the rest of us,
2 separate friends also on uws just caught it and their whole families too. none have kids - all work from home. One thinks the only place she could have caught it was having dinner in a restaurant (albeit with one whole wall open). The other has no idea.
I know there was at least one case in a retirement home in Westchester.
One friend caught it while on a road trip to visit family in the Midwest. A couple of kids on our (not this season) travel sports team tested positive.
DC's HS classmate tested positive, so DC and other classmates who were close contact had to quarantine. Friends with DCs at both public and private schools have had cases at their schools.
In the last month- 3 of my students, 1 co-worker, second cousin and his immediate family
I don’t have any friends who are positive. But I’m an ER doctor in northern New England. My area is the biggest outbreak in our state. Started with an intramural hockey tailgate party. Spread to the neighboring Trump supporting town, so fewer masks were worn. We are getting people of all ages, but the sickest are the local nursing home residents. It’s very sad, since these elders aren’t exactly out and about in the community.
Oh- forgot that two of our nurses are positive. Both caught it from spouses at home.
