170,000 doses for the state to start. This makes me very happy even though I'm not getting it right away. Healthcare workers working COVID and those in nursing home first. Anyone work in a hospital or have contact with a nursing home and have heard about people getting vaccinated?
I work in an ER (not in NY but in a bordering state) and have not heard a peep. Anxiously awaiting...
DH is a doctor in a private practice and no word.
My family member works in a hospital in the south, and so far they have installed the special equipment for storage of the vaccine and are ready for shipment.
SIL is in healthcare, she hasn't heard anything. But there are many more who qualify for group 1 than there will be vaccines as of 12/15, so even that group will have people who have to wait.
Friend of a friend who works at Mass General in Boston was told today that, assuming it's approved next week, all employees will likely be vaccinated by end of Jan.
I think there will be prioritization even within the healthcare for the initial batch. Assuming ER, ICU, etc will be the first one in line as well they should be. Their risk is higher than say if you are a plastic surgeon or a pediatrician.
I’m an ER doctor and would argue pediatricians are also front line. They are seeing Covid patients in the office.
@Anonymous I agree. Anyone who is knowingly seeing/coming in contact with Covid positive patients should be front line. I would include everyone in pediatric offices here (doctors, nurses, receptionists).
Something people forget is the non-medical hospital staff. The maintenance people who are going in and out of the rooms. Hopefully, they are prioritized as well.
