DH's employer is forcing him to go into the office 2 or 3 days a week. This morning he texted from the subway that there were 4 people on his car not wearing masks (or wearing one pulled down over the chin). How rude and selfish can people be?
Incredibly rude and selfish. I have not been on the subway since March. I have been on a city bus a few times and it has been fine. I am so nervous about the subway because my kids have to take it to get to school in the fall.
Did you see the NY Times report that subways aren't as dangerous as indoor restaurants? The idea was that people dont' generally speak that much on subways and the air circulates better. I was surprised that the NYTimes said something positive about covid.
I did see the NY Times article, but I don't think it's fair to compare NYC to other countries, where people have shown themselves to be more responsible and civic-minded. You're still in an enclosed space, and while you may not be talking much, it's harder to keep 6 feet away from people on a crowded subway car. I think that once more people are taking public transit, we'll see another surge.

We have started taking the subway again and have had no issues at all, everyone wearing masks and shockingly clean.
