And now we have about 60 people in quarantine and 2/3 divisions shut this week. Sigh.
Ethical Culture? We're there too :(
My NYC public was closed during thanksgiving, and the only case we've had since September was during the time period we were closed.
As an update, we had another case, the first day back at school, and now are remote.
@Anonymous A bit reactionary if you ask me. Covid will come into the schools. The question is whether it will spread. Evidence in my area has shown very little spread.
@Anonymous to be clear, the class is remote. The school is not, yet.
If you're not 80 years old, who cares?
Only 80 year olds care about kids being able to be back at school?
OK so here's a question: Does anyone REALLY get Covid if they are masked indoors at all times except for home and stays with family only? because I think the post Thanksgiving surge is due to people not doing exactly that. And claiming they were oh so careful.
So did mine and my dc's middle school is (so far) doing fine. I'm sorry you've had issues but there are always going to be issues. May as well open what we can since there doesn't seem to be transmission within the schools.
I too believe it is the people who keep on gathering with friends and family like nothing is going on yet keep saying they are "super careful". I know a family who just had it back in mid-November after having a bunch of people over for a backyard Halloween party, "but we were so careful!" Looking through the mother's Instagram account, there isn't a mask on any of the kids at that Halloween party...
Same- not judging but a lot of people I know who say they are "so careful" are seeing a LOT of people- outdoors but kind of doubt everyone keeps their masks on.
