I'm from london (now living in US) and I guess I just feel weird about all these tiers and rules and how they've done it. Like - you can't meet more than 1 person outside... what does 'meet' even mean? what if you are 6 feet or more away and wearing masks? What if there is another group of 2 people near you? What if you see someone you know - you cannot say hi? It's all just so complicated and it doesn't seem to be based on real science (though also notice from my social media that brits seem to act like the virus listens to govt rules eg if govt says you can go to someone's house then you can just go and have a dinner party there but if the govt says not to then you truly can't.)

I think we’re next. But did you see the chaos on the trains? everyone leaving London will just bring it with them around the country
I KNOW. soooo dumb. this is what i mean, they take all the instructions as given - as if the virus is like 'i'll wait to infect people until after the midnight deadline to leave this one area'.
My family is there and I feel so bad for them. This whole situation is awful.
@Anonymous mine too. It's silly though - brits dont wear masks outside. Just tell people to wear masks and then say you can meet people in the park or whatever, just stay 6 feet apart
This has been the rule in Vermont since Nov 15. Schools and restaurants are still open, but informal gatherings outside of your immediate household are banned. Inside AND outside. You can go to a restaurant w your family but you can’t take a walk outside w your neighbor. It’s not terrible... but I’m an introvert. There is a real ”we’re in this together and we’ll do this because if everyone doesn’t do it, it’s worthless” mentality. We avoided a Thanksgiving surge (knock on wood).
but that literally does not make scientific sense. There is almost no evidence of outside transmission. But the evidence of transmission inside restaurants while eating is overwhelming. I get the economic thing but then also let people meet outside. I just think if the science makes no sense to people that leads to breaking the rules across the board bc it leads to desperation and mistrust
Christmas is a huge deal over there and that on top of so many people hating Boris will lead to mass disregard for lockdowns. As is already evidenced by people exiting immediately.
